UPDATE storms today in Maryland

By: cws6196, 2:36 PM GMT on April 30, 2014

The rain continues through today, heavy at times. We are under a flood warning issued by the NWS. Localized flooding is possible as well as street flooding. Thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon into the overnight hours. The Storm Prediction Center has us under slight risks for damaging wind, hail and tornadoes. These are real possibilities, although, if we stay covered by clouds for most of today our chances for severe weather are diminished. As I m...

storms in Maryland Wed

By: cws6196, 4:25 PM GMT on April 29, 2014

The storm system that has been affecting the south is moving toward Maryland giving us copious amounts of rain and the possibility for storms tomorrow. Our storms tomorrow will not be as severe nor intense as the south has experienced. We can expect the rain to last through Thursday evening, with a few breaks here and there. By Thursday we could have 3-5" of rain accumulated and this is the reason the NWS has issued the Flood Watch. Localized flooding is possibl...

more cold weather in Maryland

By: cws6196, 11:52 PM GMT on April 14, 2014

As I previously mentioned, the NWS has issued a Freeze Watch for us for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. I would not be surprised if they issue another one for Wednesday night. A strong cold front will move through the area mid-Tuesday dropping temps 20-30 degrees by evening. Wednesday's high temp will be in the mid 40s, maybe close to 50 for some. Tuesday and Wednesday overnight low temps will be in the low 30s.

TIMING: Rain will start from t...

UPDATE Mon afternoon re snow

By: cws6196, 10:02 PM GMT on March 24, 2014

Our snow chances for tomorrow still exist, and I'm confident we will see snow, but as I have been saying, it won't be a major issue for us. The snow will start around 7:00am or so and last into the evening. Snow that falls during the day will not stick, but any snow after sunset will stick to grassy areas. I don't see a major impact to roadways. The roads will remain wet, but not snow covered. I do worry about icing on the roads as the temps drop overnight Tues...

UPDATE Sun afternoon re snow in Maryland Tues

By: cws6196, 5:10 PM GMT on March 23, 2014

Model indications continue to move the Low off the coast, with it strengthening just to our north. I do feel we will see snow, but for snow lovers, we won't see much in the way of accumulation. As I have been saying, the timing and position of the Low are key for us to see accumulating snow. Well, the position seems to be too far east, and the timing gives us snow during the afternoon Tues. This late in March, snow will not stick if it falls during the day, stic...
