... Heavy rain and strong winds likely today...

A low pressure system will move northeast across the central
Panhandle this afternoon and evening, causing heavy rain and
locally strong winds over the southern Panhandle. Strongest winds
are likely to be along the southern outer coast with wind gusts to
50 mph in the afternoon. Some southern inner channel locations
could see gusts to 40 mph or more as well. Rainfall could reach 3
inches or more by late this evening. This rainfall will cause
area rivers and streams to rise somewhat, but flooding is not
expected at this time. Stay tuned for possible later statements
on this event.
