Statement as of 6:52 AM HST on April 27, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 945 am HST

* at 645 am HST... radar showed areas of heavy showers along windward
slopes of west Maui and Haleakala... and stream gages were running
higher than normal. The showers were nearly stationary.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Pauwela... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... hookipa Beach Park...
Honolua... Honokowai and Honokohau.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.


This advisory may need to be extended beyond 945 am HST if heavy rain
persists.

The high surf advisory is now in effect until 6 PM HST Tuesday.

* Surf... rising to 10 to 15 feet along north facing shores and 6
to 9 feet along east facing shores.

* Timing... until 6 PM HST Tuesday.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves... shore
break... and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Beachgoers... swimmers... and surfers should heed all advice given
by ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Boaters should
expect recreational surfers and body boarders utilizing Harbor
channels to access surfing areas.
