Statement as of 12:53 PM PST on December 14, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 am MST /4 am PST/ to 2 PM MST /1 PM PST/ Tuesday... The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Malheur County Oregon... the upper and lower Treasure valley of Idaho... southwest Highlands... southern Twin Falls County... western Magic Valley and Camas Prairie for moderate snow ... Which is in effect from 5 am MST /4 am PST/ to 2 PM MST /1 PM PST/ Tuesday. * Snow amounts... 2 to 5 inches of snow with upwards of 4 to 7 inches in the Camas Prairie and southwest Highlands ..and northern Malheur County Oregon. The area around Boise may see only about two inches. * Snow levels... surface then rising to 3500 feet by Tuesday afternoon. * Winds... light winds becoming southeast 10 to 20 mph overnight. * Timing... early Tuesday morning through mid Tuesday afternoon. * Impacts... moderate snow falling along the I-84 corridor during morning commute time Tuesday. Areas of fog with poor visibility. Snow and icy highways 20... 51 and 95 south to the Nevada state line. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
