This is not one of those huge blogs that take me 2 hours to write, but merely a quick update on the storms in the Northeast. There is currently a thunderstorm centered near Philadelphia producing nickel-sized hail and winds in excess of 60 mph.It will take a path similar to this:A. PhiladelphiaB. Bellmawr, New Jersey (Camden County)C. Hammonton, New Jersey (Atlantic County)D.
Well, you can feel it on your skin. You can tell by the frequent thunderstorms each day that only last 10 minutes. You can tell by the Heat Advisories in Southern Texas. The summer is almost here! Just 3 days left of school for me, and in many places across the country, a lot of kids are already out. However, we tend to end our school year mid-June here in the Northeast.I'm using my summer format which went into effect June 1-coextensive with the start of meteorolog...

***Poem follows the previous text***Well everyone, believe it or not, today's date is May 31, and tomorrow's is the dreaded June 1. The date is infamous for being the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season. I am writing this entry out of curiosity: Are you ready for this season?Just because the season has started does not mean a storm will form in June (despite a May depression). Usually you'll have June to prepare for the strong ones. Let's check some June clim...

I. CURRENT WEATHERA. New JerseyAfternoon, everyone. A typical May day here in New Jersey with temperatures in the upper 70s, with storms approaching. Nothing we're not used to. Just earlier this morning a front moved through this morning, and now we have a situation where thunderstorms are steaming along an approaching cold front.Classic for mid-May. There should be some term for this stuff derived from Greek or Latin culture, like everything other big word in the E...

I. CURRENT WEATHERA. New JerseyThe heat is on here in New Joisey today. I have 51 favorites, 50 largest US cities + my hometown of course. Right now, it says it is 96.6F in Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey. This is apparently hottter than Los Angeles, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Charlotte, DC, Louisville, Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Miami. Why? The classic Bermuda high pressure which is responsible for many past Northeast heat waves is in charge. A cold front from farther n...
