A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

I voted (by mail) for the first time since I became a citizen almost 2 years ago. Yes, it is truly a privilege to have the right to vote, hopefully everybody is able to get to the polls and vote.
Having a pizza party with hubby & dau and will watch the results as long as we can stay up :) Wonderful to live in FREE COUNTRY. I have lived under a dictatorship in Spain and that was a shock to a Finn, accustomed to living in the country, which was the second in the world to give women the voting rights (1st country was New Zealand!)

I feel proud to be an American and for many things we have, like the video below... sniff...

Getting cooler here too, but not like up there. Been in the low 50's a few nights, now really wonderful weather, no A/C needed :)

Hi, Wab!

I'm not surprised that you didn't have much color this year. Severe drought kinda shoves fall color off the menu.

I picked the perfect time to drive up to Dad's. There was lots of color. For the area I was driving through, anyway. We don't see the color New England is famous for over most of the state. You have to get up closer to the GA/NC line, up into the Smoky foothills.

Still, what I saw made for a nice drive. Splashes of maroon, bronzes, the occasional bright yellow. Once in a while, a flash of vivid scarlet from some kind of vine. I'm not sure what that was. Trumpet vine or Virginia creeper, maybe.

Tom .. Almost all of the leaves are off the trees here.. I'm further north then the St Louis area .. Didn't have much leaf color this year and the leaves fell early .. Many trees have suffered from the severe drought we had through the summer ..
