The Weather is Teasing Me!!

So this morning a big low pressure system hit southern california. The effects were felt heavily in Palm Springs with low hanging clouds around the mountain. Constant forecasts promised the chance of thunderstorms. tonight there is a slight chance of thunderstorms making their way into the phoenix metro area. this is my last night in phoenix and tomorrow im heading to california. ive been dying to put my new christmas gifts (55-200mm VR,50mm f/1.8 WITH INFINITY MARKER) to storm photography action. ill be up for a while standing in my drive way and looking at the radar. ill be in the community chat.

Infinity Focus.

While taking pictures of lightning, it is obvious that the focus on the camera should be on infinity. But I only own the 18-55 kit lens with no focus gauge to tell me if im on infinity or not. The manual focus on the 18-55mm is a ring at the front of the lens that i rotate to change focus yet in the dark or even at twilight i can not focus on anything.
