I think I've written about February before. That's okay – it's a good month! There are sweet oranges on my tree, the tangerines are almost ready, and a friend gave me a bag of guavas from the first harvest of his backyard tree. Awesome.Usually, February is a green month. By now we should have had enough rain interspersed with enough sun to waken the natives. There is some green on the hills this year.Of course, it's also a great month for overnight freezes and floo...

When I was in High School I was required to read short passages from Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. I don't remember much discussion about those passages, or even which bits we were to read, but I do remember being disappointed with the teacher's brief treatment. I read the Iliad and Odyssey in their entirety for my own sake, because I enjoyed myths and legends, and was glad I did. What I remember from those stories is the action scenes - monsters and gods and heroes ...

I think a lot about the sun in December. I see it all day, usually, as my area tends to be clear and dry for most of the month. But, the days are short. As the Solstice approaches, I feel that I can feel it coming – the end of the quick slide into darkness and the beginning of the long haul back around to Spring. It makes me antsy. So, a blog for the sun, along with the randomness that always shows up here.Spurred by something barefootontherocks wrote in her blog, ...

Here it is, November, already.Windy as all get out today. Chance of rain towards the weekend. November is a back-and-forth sort of month, weather-wise, as it is throughout most of the northern hemisphere, I suppose.I don't really have a new blog entry idea (in case you couldn't tell) but the old one was feeling dusty after two months. Here's to the next two months of random ramblings :)…..Dancin' Swirly-gigs:For the bigger picture, have a look at the NE Pac WVloop....

Oh, my, look at the swirlies.By this time last year I had predicted a wet winter for my portion of SoCal and I was actually correct! What's that saying? “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day” LOLThis year I expected a similar set-up in the patterns, and a month ago I would have said that we were headed for an even wetter rainy season. I'm not so sure, right now. The pattern isn't as clear-cut and there looks to be some uncertainty in the atmosphere.Even the...
