Keeping a really tight eye on the shake maps out this way. Apparently another little tremor here this morning, rather close. Didn't feel it but after looking at the shake maps, we have had ALOT of rocking and rolling. Hoping that we just continue with the smaller ones to alleviate pressure and the big ones stay away. Weather out here is GORGEOUS right now. In the seventies today and looking for the highs to be in the mid 60s this week. Gorgeous weather and I c...

ok...so we left our skipper and fellow crew in Savannah and it took us a bit to hook up with folks here. I finally joined the Navy Yacht Club here, sent out an email to the race committee and asked if anyone was looking for steady crew. We were fortunate enough to get a phone call and email the next day. The boat we are now on is a 1 ton grand prix benetaeu. It has all the bells and whistles, computer systems as well as headphones and two way radios for everyone...

Huge Differences

Just reflecting a bit on the huge differences between here and Savannah. Not a huge surprise - weather of course but some other things. Recycling - we have a mandatory recycling program here and if you don't follow it, you get a nastygram first and then you get fined. We had nothing like that in Savannah - everything went in the trash can. I am AMAZED however, the amount of stuff that is actually recycled. Every plastic bag, paper towel, toilet paper roll, styro...

It's rather warm here - some kind of high parked over us and not allowing the marine layer to protect us from the sun in the mornings. A/C is still broken so we finally had to break down and install ceiling fans to cool us a bit. Beautiful sunsets here as well. I think the smoke from the fires a bit north to us are contributing to the vibrant colors in the evenings. Certainly hope that they can contain the fires soon before more folks lose their homes.

feel a bit out of the loop here but missing you all

love it here really but being SO far away from the weather problems - feeling a bit out of the loop. We still have a house there in Savannah and still keep an eye on the weather daily - SO MISS THE STORMS. Nothing like listening to a storm roll on - sitting on the front porch and the moving in if it gets bad. Have been here a month and realized how much I really missed being outside. I am out constantly now - hate to be inside - weather has been GORGEOUS. Nothin...
