24 minutes left -- okay, 25 because I don't get to start until 12:01am on November 1st. I'll be checking in only now and again over the next month, 'cause I'm going to actually try to win NaNoWriMo (and that means writing a 50,000 word novel before November 30th). I can't wait to start! Only -11°F at Eielson now, and it's still above 10°F here in Fairbanks, so it's not bad. Had TONS of trick or treaters at the house, but didn't run out of candy and toys, so I'...

...at least it waited until AFTER Halloween. We're looking at -5°F for lows by Sunday, with highs around 20°F. The snow's been NICE (we have about 5" of snow here in Birchwood), but it's been waaayyy too warm. We're supposed to get into the 30's today, and I'd believe it. Heck, it's 30°F in Barrow this morning -- the radio had Prudoe Bay at 27°F. Did I spell that correctly? It doesn't look right. Rawlins this morning shows 24°F with snow and freezing fog...

They're never going to get it right when they forecast snow for Fairbanks. :-) It's STILL snowing, hasn't stopped, and I think we're up to aroud 3" at the moment. It's supposed to snow all the way through tomorrow night. We were 7" of snow down on the season, so it looks like we may make it up with just this once storm. :-) Now....if only drivers would figure out IT'S SLICK and ESPECIALLY SLICK at the stoplights (where people stop and their exhaust melts the i...

Kind of like the undead. It's actually above 32°F here at the moment, there's NO SNOW ON THE GROUND ANYWHERE -- no, wait, that's not true -- Birch Hill ski area has started making snow for at least the bunny and tubing slopes, so that's the only "snow" around, and it's nearly NOVEMBER. Last night was sooooo warm, I didn't need a hat or gloves when we went to walk Katie at 930pm. It's getting more and more disturbing, and there's no precip in the forecast AT ALL ...

FINALLY, a dusting of snow

...that apparently isn't going to hang out for very long because the temps are supposed to warm back up into the 30s this week. This is WEIRD. We should have had (staying around or not) an AVERAGE of 7" of snow by now, and we've had, until this morning....none. Okay, a dusting on Sept 27th, but that wasn't even enough to mention, so for all intents and purposes....none. From what I can find, the last time we had a snowless Halloween was 1962. It's looking, at t...
