Reminds me of another storm-Opal

When I woke up this morning I found Katrina had strenghtened to a Cat 5. I can't help but think back to Hurricane Opal in 1995. I went to bed with a Cat 2 storm heading for New Orleans and woke up with a Cat 5 heading for P'cola! Any chance Katrina could take a significant jog to the East?

I hope you will be safe on the western side of Katrina. I live in the Panhandle of FL and have been through Ivan and Dennis in the past year. As much as we have been through in this area, I would much rather see Katrina here than in New Orleans. I think you're right about the total devastation a direct hit will cause there.
