Christmas is just around the corner!

It's December 19, 2008 and we've had our first "official" snowfall in the Olympia area. Not a huge storm but a good one for our first one. About 6 inches of snow, a couple of "in the teens" nights, high 20's days... Yeah, all in all it's been fun, cold and making for all kinds of photo ops. Summer's gone!

Yup, it's over and fire season officially ended yesterday. We're waiting for the remnants of the Tropical Storm Lingling to blow onshore tonight or tomorrow... shouldn't be all that bad but it'll help us rid the ground of some of the leaves and pine needles.Anyway, we went out last weekend to a local farm that has a corn maze, a huge pumpkin patch, pony rides, slides and some novelty items in the spirit of fall. Failing summer

It's September 21st, summer's starting to fade away... slowly but surely. A degree here, a cloud there. The nights are getting longer and cooler now, the days shorter and with a bit of a morning bite to them. In all, I'm anxious to get this summer behind us. A bit of a change...

Well, on the westside of the state the weather's changed a bit towards the more comfortable... 70's during the day, high 40's overnight. But, we're still in the middle of our "fire season" and the eastside of the state has those temps in the mid to high 90's with little or no rain in sight. Summertime

Well, I hope summer's going well for everyone. We've had some pretty hot days out this way and then some pretty wet and cool days too.July 11, 2007 was the hottest I've seen in the Olympia area in quite awhile. Our outdoor thermometer showed 103+ Fahrenheit in the shade at 5:00 p.m. and the Kestrel showed 104+ degrees Fahrenheit in the direct sunlight... 112+ Fahrenheit on the deck (which is painted dark brown).
