I am making the assumption that we will hit 100 degrees again today (no doubt it will), and that will put us at 100 degrees 10 of the past 12 days, and the two days we did not hit that mark were 98.3 and 99.8.The high during that period was 107.8, according to the HORIZON weather station. The NWS says four of the hottest five temps recorded since 1948 in Celina were in a five-day stretch back at the start of this blitzkrieg. As for precipitation, we had a half-inch ...

Official rainfall totals from my rain gauge in Celina showed a total of .69 inches of rain in June. The 30-year average for June is 4.52. We were behind almost 2.5 inches in May at my gauge, but the NWS station showed another half-inch deficit. A Nashville TV weather person said last week Celina was 8.32 inches in precipitation deficit for the year. I have not added yearly totals, but that would seem to be fairly close. The drought and record-setting high temperatu...

Just returned from a trip to New England to find out it did not rain any at my station here in Celina during our six days away.I see some grass beginning to die out, which is normally an August or September phenomenon, if it happens at all.I have had 2.99 inches of precip in May, with almost exactly half of that coming in a single 24-hour period. The NWS is showing an inch less than that (1.93), with the 30-year average being 5.54 inches. Here's hoping this next rai...

No need to say much more than the headline, but I will add this:1. We don't normally hit daily average highs of 70 degrees until the first week of May.2. We don't hit average highs of 80 degrees until the second week of June.So how out of whack are things right now?
