I live right in the middle of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Our Great Lakes protect us from much of the extreme weather in other states.

Yesterday was gorgeous with temps reaching the 70° mark, light winds, and plenty of sun. Unfortunately, we're paying for it now with moderate to heavy rain falling since midnight. There was 0.70" in my gauge at 8 AM, and it has been raining steady since then. The radar is showing a lot more on the way so not expecting to do much outdoors today. Besides the rain, our high today will only be in the low 40s if we're lucky. So yes, q...

We had clouds most of Sunday but the rain moved in overnight. Many areas reported thunder and lightning but I didn't see any here unless it happened when I was sleeping. Today is the first day of spring and it feels like it. Hopefully, the snow is done for the season although more below normal temps are in the forecast for later this week.
OUR 9:30 AM temp is 38°F, the humidity is 79%, and skies are overcast. We rec'd 0.08" of rai...

Our 9:15 AM temp is 33°F (0°C), the humidity is 92% and winds are calm. The pressure is 29.96 in (1014.3 mb) and visibility is 2 miles. The dew point is 32°F (0°C) and skies are c...

The photo above is from the "Durand Now" Facebook page and shows the extent of the wind damage in that city. Recovery from the wind storm on Wednesday continues and some power may not be restored until Tomorrow. I'm so happy that we are not one of those without. Today will see more wind, not what is needed in the recovery effort; however it won't be as bad as Tuesday and Wednesday. The prediction is for March to be colder than normal, ...

To look out the window, one would expect a beautiful spring day, but one step outdoors tells you that it still is winter. It is nice until the wind hits you. One good thing is that the car stays warm if you have to venture out and park in the sun. That's what I had to do this morning and I know that it had to be 80° in the car when I came out from the store. We are expecting another round of very warm weather for the beginning of the w...
