I'm planning our holiday to Georgia and South Carolina for 2 weeks in June - a first to this destination!Any recommendations? We love the outdoors but also enjoy urban experiences, too.Current plans include Okefenokee Swamp, Brunswick on the Georgia Coast, and a couple of days on Hilton Head Island. And at least a drive-by - Augusta National golf course(to keep my hubby happy!). What should we expect weather-wise?I'm SO excited . . . more photo ops await!

I just had the best weekend of my life!Along with 10 other people, I took part in Heartland Travel's Historic Fur Trade tour of the Canadian sub-arctic. This is not a trip for those who like a lazy weekend. We started in Winnipeg at the Perimeter Air base at 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning. A chartered Metroliner plane would be our weekend "taxi" and the 2 pilots were at our disposal. We returned to Winnipeg about 10 p.m. Sunday night ... tired but happy :)The purpose...

We just got back from a 14 day road trip through the USA. What a great journey! We left our home in Thunder Bay, Ontario ... just a 1/2 hour from the Canada-USA border and headed south. As in the "official" road trip definition... it was a new place every night. The only multiple night stay was 2 nights in Memphis. Our route:Day 1: to St. Paul, Minnesota ... the next day we stuck to the legendary Highway 61 all the way to Lacrosse, WI, then followed Highway 3...

We're on a road trip! We left home in Thunder Bay (Canada) 2 days ago and head south into the USA. Our first night was in rainy St. Paul Minnesota. We then followed Highway 61 (and the Mississippi River) into La Crosse Wisconsin . . . and then took Highway 35 along the Mississippi River to Dubuque Iowa. This is an awesome route . . . we were constantly amazed by the beauty of the drive, even in the pouring rain and mist. After crossing the Mississippi at Prairi...

Majestic Falls Silenced

Last evening we drove out to Kakabeka Falls. This magnificent waterfall is 40 metres (131 feet) high and is called the "Niagara of the North." It is the highest waterfall in Northern Ontario, and is not that much shorter than Niagara Falls. (Niagara's Horseshoe Falls is 53 metres/173 feet and the American Falls is 'only' 30 metres/100 feet). Usually a spring evening drive to the Falls would have you in eager anticipation as you pulled into the Provincial Park p...
