I've lived in zip code 98052 for close to 20 years, (except for some time in 90048 and 98125), so I've been "Steve98052" on a lot of sites.

I just read that Weather Underground is going to discontinue these blogs, as of April 3. But don't worry, I have a Livejournal blog in the same name, steve98052. If I have more to write about my weather station, I'll write it on Livejournal with a "weather" tag.

This station isn't dead. But my router seems to be dead or close to it, so I can't update except by tethering through my phone. That's not a very satisfactory solution, since it means the station goes down any time I switch tethering off or leave the close vicinity of my computer. However, my ISP said they were sending me a new router soon (at no cost -- woohoo!), so the station should be back in normal operation soon.

My station is back in operation, finally. My old Oregon Scientific WMR968 station connected through an RS-232 port, and I retired my last computer with such a port, and some of the sensors disappeared in a move.
Now I have an Acu-Rite 02064C five-in-one station. At Costco, it was very inexpensive, and I wasn't sure whether it was a winner of a product, but reviews seem good, and it has a USB base so I can use it with my current main computer. The one ques...

My weather station stopped reporting around 7 pm on June 24, worked a little bit on on the 25th and 26th, and then quit completely.
I don't know what was wrong, except that FreeWX-Wi kept quitting with a cryptic error message. Software does that sometimes.
Anyway, a few minutes ago Windows decided it needed to be rebooted, and when the reboot completed FreeWX-Wi was suddenly functioning once again.
Based on the nearest station that w...
