Summer is so short in Alaska and this was not the greatest. Wonderful Spring as always but so far the summer has been very wet.Did however get in lots of miles on the bike and managed to burn off 40 pounds of winter weight. Feel so light I think I can fly. Now to keep it off!Two more weeks of work before another week off. Not sure what I am going to do but it will involve the bicycle and and my BOB trailer. It's cooled off.

Had a really hot end of May but has now cooled off.Despite the winter melt the environment is dry as a bone. I am not a big fan of a smokey summers, we have had too many of those in recent years, so let's bring on the rain.Off to Fort Yukon on Monday. It has been a while since I have been there. Hope to get in some fishing.

Spring is shaping up

Just a great week weather wise. Traveled to Northway on Wednesday and came back Friday. Temperatures in the 70's all week and everything has greened up.Of course with the warm dry weather we had our first major wildfire north of Fairbanks. Alaska Fire Service got it contained rather quickly. I just hope we get some rain before too long. Smoky summers are the worst.Next week I am off to get some home repairs done and looks like we will get into the eighties!

A Wonderful Day

Made it into the 70's today and the trees are really greening up. I could not wait to get out of the office and go for a bike ride. Got home, put the bike in the truck and was off for Chena Lakes. Managed 12 miles in an hour on the mountain bike before coming home.Will be off for Northway tomorrow. I plan to walk around the runway for a bit of exercise as the road from the junction is under construction.Northway is interesting as I am convinced it is on of the last ...

3 years and no update, what is with that?

I guess I need to keep up with this little blog. It has been a long and cool spring but today marks the first day we have reached the 60's and it sure feels nice. According to the forecast we may see some 70 plus weather this week. The snow is almost all gone, just a few patches in the shady areas.
