ANOTHER QUIET WEEK IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN

Posted 7/6/09 @ 12:15 PM EDTNone of the Forecast Models are predicting any Atlantic Tropical Systems headed for the CONUS over the next seven days... The GFS long range model does show a Tropical Wave exiting the African coast on or about the 13th that eventually develops strength around the 20th to the 22nd, at which time it could be in the area of the Bahamas. However, being over 2 weeks out and not really backed up by the other models I am only mentioning it bec...

WILL INVEST 93L AFFECT FLORIDA?

Update Posted 6/30/09 @ 11:00 AM EDTLooks as if 93L did not survive long enough to strengthen in the GOM... In fact the HNC lost interest in the invest a few days ago and chances for any remnants of this disturbed area to develop now are slim to none. A quick look at the WV Loop shows nothing of specific interest beyond the storms moving across Florida from the Eastern GOM and tropical development is not expected for at least the next several days.

Update Posted 6/19/09 @ 9:00 PM EDTI guess some sort of an update is in order, at least to mention that I am still here and have an eye on the Tropics... However, the Tropical Atlantic offers very little to discuss and my thinking is that will continue to be the case until at least the middle of next week. Locally, SouthWest Florida can expect a hot weekend... Temperatures in the mid 90's with heat indexes reaching well into the 100's. Our chance for afternoon stor...

Florida Drought Conditions Final Update

Update Posted 5/28/09 @ 10:00 AM EDT SWINE FLU INFORMATION & LINKSWith our recent rains the drought conditions have improved a good deal, as can be seen in the latest graphic by the US Drought Monitor (below). Additionally, with Hurricane Season about to begin and already showing signs of activity I will start posting on the Tropics Sunday or Monday (depending on my schedule). Still, much of South Florida is at best abnormally dry, though thi...

Please take time to visit the Full South Florida StormWatch Site. Quick Post 3/20/09I am going to have to skip my weekend update this time, with temperatures near 80 and no rain in the forecast there is really not much to say anyway. Enjoy your weekend... Update Posted 3/16/09 @ 2:30 PM ESTLooks like we have a chance for some rain this week... Good news, yes, or at least sort of... The 20% chance posted Tuesday through Thursday is probably not going to produce the w...
