Well, Hurricane Season has ended, but it is not even winter yet and Florida is already in the grips of our first cold spell... I sure hope we do get a mild winter this year, I am not ready for a repeat of last year.North of here winter has also kicked in early, storms and snowfall already making the news a few times now, most recently in Buffalo NY.Another blow to the prediction of a mild and wet winter for Florida is the lack of rain, we are already seeing red flag...

Just in case you thought I died or gave up on posting, I figured I better at least check in... I will admit I have been busy with other things for the last several weeks, and the weather in Florida gets fairly boring (if you want to call it that) this time of the year, so I have not had much to say. The tropical season is also winding down quickly, which means that until the holidays, when you may see me post a 'travel report' or two (depending on the weather), we a...

StormWatch / Tropical Update

Some time ago I posted about how my intention was to move away from recanting the weather forecast for Florida and focus on tropical and severe weather threats... However, that is not exactly what took place, and to keep my word, so to say, that you could expect at least one post per week, I did in fact fall back to posting 'weekend forecasts'.There are several reason why... Posting on 'live weather', such as afternoon storms, is simply not feasible, and even though...

Hurricane Otto & Red Flag Warnings in Florida

Hurricane Otto continues to dump heavy rain in the Northern Caribbean, I also have to admit this one sort of snuck up on me... Has been a busy week and with my son starting the fall baseball season, I have not really been keeping up to date on the tropics like I should be, especially with how active the season has been.On another note, Florida is starting to see red flag warning already, not that this means we are clear of tropical weather in Florida for the season,...

South Florida Weekend Weather & Tropical Outlook

I will be fairly brief today since we have no active tropical systems to look out for, and the weather should be very nice this weekend in south Florida. In fact, we should see highs near 90 each day with a mix of sun and clouds. Lows do begin to dip down now and may fall into the upper 60's overnight. No rain is being forecast until Monday, though we all know a shower or even a quick storm may sneak into the mix anyway. No active storms in the Atlantic right now, bu...
