Sequim is located in between Port Townsend and Port Angeles on Highway 101 along the Straits of Juan de Fuca.(The Strait leads from the Pacific Ocean to Puget Sound.) It's on the Northern edge of the Olympic National Park and is in the mountains' "Rain Shadow." Which means it gets less rainfall than other locations in this same general area.Sequim is pronounced more like "Sqim" or Swim with a q instead of w. The town is becoming a haven for retirees looking for a co...

It's Father's Day weekend and there are lots of activities in the area. It's still a bit cool and pretty cloudy, although it seems the sun is trying to make it through the clouds. We are to meet a couple of local WU ladies today. I'm looking forward to it. Hope the rain holds off so all those folks and vendors for the Farmers Market can get around without it being too muddy.I may just have to find somewhere that sells those slip on boots for over your shoes if this ...

Morris, IL Flooding in the news with New High of IL River

For those unfamiliar with IL, Morris is located about 60-70 miles SW of Chicago at the Intersection of I-80(E-W) and IL ST Route 47(N-S). The majority of the town is on the North side of the Illinois River, with the IL & MI Canal running parallel in between the river and the town. Near the Rt. 47 bridge and in town are some of the places where the I&M Canal comes the closest to the IL River. In fact, today the "towpath" (called the I&M Canal St. Trail) on the south ...
