Across America

Wow, it has been quite awhile since I have been by here! But, I am back home (have been for almost a week) and lots has happened. We made our trek across the country! We drove just under 3,000 miles from Seattle to Maryland. It went fine and was quite enjoyable. It took us six days to reach Maryland. We stopped at a few places but mostly just traveled onward. The car was tiny and with four of us in it, plus quite limited luggage and th...

Changes Underway

August 13, 8:15 AM

Today is a good day to write about the next phase of things, as it is a very different day here than we have had in a long while. A heavy overcast is overhead, and it really rained during the night. In about six hours we received .80” rain. Only two days ago it was 99 degrees here. Yesterday dropped to 82 (only because the sun broke out for awhile in the afternoon, the rest of the day was cooler than that and cloudy) and then that rai...

Happy Summer Solstice! Ahhh, the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year too! There are sure a lot of months when we wish for this day. It was a nice one for us – sunny under a partially filtered sky and a high of 76. Unfortunately, other than to water my garden, I wasn’t out in it very much.

An update on my daughter’s knee: it has been diagnosed as a dislocated knee cap. No surgery for now, but a few weeks...

May Showers and Flowers

By: PugetSoundPost, 3:37 PM GMT on May 05, 2014

May 19, 7:15 AM

Here are a couple more rhododendron blossom photos from my yard showing two different colors - white and a lovely purple shade. I am not sure how well the purple will translate to all of your computer screens, but in real life it is a real pretty shade and probably my favorite. But all of them are very nice. May is rhododendron month here in western Washington. It is our state flower and I think this one is a great pick that someone in the...
