Up Into the Ecuadorian Andes!

Our first stop back on the mainland of Ecuador, after our Galapagos adventure, was the big city of Guayaquil, near the coast. It is Ecuador's largest and most populous city, with over 2.5 million people. It is also the country's main sea port. Since it at sea level and so near the equator, it is a hot and humid city. But, we were not feeling too much stifling heat. We were only there from late afternoon through ...

Final Entry for the Galapagos Islands

Patience is a virtue, it is often said, and anyone who still has patience, or interest with this blog is much appreciated by me.

Giant Tortoises

Continuing our tour of Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos, our first main destination will be to see the giant tortoises that are one of the most famous must-see animals of the islands.

But first, here are a couple of shots of the waterfront fish market in the town of Puerto Ayora. Notice that seal that is right at the hip of the lady cleaning fish. It was always there as long as she was. It would patiently wai...
