At 12:45pm in the Bay Park neighborhood of San Diego, California, it's 72 degrees and sunny. As spring has given way to summer in San Diego, we've seen a gradual reduction in the intensity of the marine layer. The ML was fairly strong this year -- day-long cloud cover more typical of April and May has lasted until the beginning of July. Nonetheless, we've seen a definite shift toward sunnier, warmer conditions over the past several days. Last night, marine cloud cove...

At 4:30pm in Bay Park, San Diego, it's 69 degrees and sunny. The humidity is a bit high at 66 percent, but we have a nice breeze.June has been pretty gloomy so far in Southern California; we've had a lot of clouds and cool, overcast days in the 60s. In fact, temps throughout the Southwest have been cool all month -- Phoenix reached 101 degrees today, four degrees below average but breaking a 15-day streak of temperatures below 100 degrees. Now living and working clos...

At 5:00pm in San Diego, it's 65 degrees and overcast. It's been a cloudy week in San Diego, at least for those of us along the coast. It rained yesterday -- Lindbergh recorded four hundredths of an inch during the course of the morning, not exactly a washout but well more than what we would expect for the date. This morning it was misty, but there was no accumulation, and this afternoon we have the same low clouds we've been enjoying for the past week. Expect more of...

At 7:55am in San Diego, it's 61 degrees. The sky is overcast, but brightening. The low morning clouds have not yet had the opportunity to dissipate today, but they will; as usual, they will tend to linger at the coast well into the morning, but will give way to sun inland in the next couple of hours. High pressure ensures that marine fog from the coastal eddy is pinned down along our coastline overnight, but that sunshine and dry conditions dominate each day. Highs a...

At 8:35pm on Thursday, May 7, it's 67 degrees in Mission Valley under a clear sky. Warm, dry conditions will persist in San Diego tomorrow, through the weekend, and into next week. The wildfire currently burning in Santa Barbara reminded me to post this: Link. This details the water restrictions that will begin for San Diego's water customers beginning on June 1, including a schedule for landscape irrigation. Also for your edification: Link, a Los Angeles Times articl...
