After the absolute washout that yesterday bought, with well over an inch of rain, we have a quiet and warm day today. Temperatures are holding in the mid-70's today, with a slow warmup for the next week. A weak disturbance is riding along the jet stream and heading east, which may give a chance of rain for the area tomorrow. Anything should be scattered, so not everywhere will be hit. After tomorrow, there should be a dry period. Here's the local forecast from the NW...

It probably seems like a repeat of yesterday here, looking at the weather forecast. There's the chance of severe thunderstorms, though today has a much higher chance than yesterday. The front that had moved a decent amount to the south, giving us a mostly dry day yesterday, has moved back up into the area, giving a good chance of storms. It's an extremely slow-moving front, since it's being blocked by a high-pressure system over the Gulf of Mexico. It'll be rainy her...

Well, last night was interesting to say the least. At just after 4 AM, like I posted last night, some severe thunderstorms rolled into my area. The first warning in the Dayton area was posted for Darke County, northwest of here, from 3-3:45 AM. Then the storm moved southward and a warning was posted for Prreble County, the county west of mine, from 3:30-4 AM. The storm was slowly moving eastward, and by 4:15 a Flood Advisory was posted for Preble county and my own, ...

Severe weather, watching the East Pacific

Well, we had a little bit of rain here, which isn't that big of a deal, other than keeping temperatures down for a while. It's not like it lasted though, the temperature has shot up over the last hour from 77 to 85, and it's still going up. There is the possibility of severe thunderstorms here overnight, but it's a small chance from everything I've seen. There are storms in the southeastern part of Ohio however, so it is possible, especially with rain to the west.NO...

Summer weather, Caribbean update

Well, actually, I'm going to start with the disturbance in the Caribbean. The models are having trouble getting any sort of consensus at this point, and the ones that do even have it show quite slow development almost a week out. With wind shear anywhere from 20-40 knots, it's extremely unlikely to form in the next few days, and even after that there's a quite low chance of anything happening. It's worth watching but really there's not much more than a 1 in 4 chance...
