Total for the past 24 hours was 4.7 inches! Looks like it may be a record-setting winter! I can't believe that there is even one person who says that there is no 'climate change' going on! They must be some kind of STUPID! Or maybe they're just deaf, dumb and blind?

Out of the blue

After a few days of relatively dry and sunny weather, yesterday afternoon it clouded up suddenly and rained rather steadily for about 90 minutes which yielded .75 inches of precip. It sure surprised me! But I'm not complaining as I was able to refrain from irrigating. Today is supposed to be drier.

Weather returns to normal

After a long spell of 'Kona storm' conditions, we've returned to some semblance of 'normal'. Rainfall now running at about half inch per day to one inch which is what I've come to expect at this time of year at my location in the southwest fringe of Hilo town. I'm looking forward to mid January when the day length increases to the point of being noticeable. Just have to get the holiday season over and done with. I'll be glad when that is over.

Rain tapering off

Well..still getting some rain but not as frequent or as heavy as it has been since last Thursday. I even saw some patches of blue sky yesterday afternoon and, for a brief moment, actual sunlight reached the surface of what used to be the front lawn (I've removed ALL of the lawn and am now converting the entire yard over to producing edible plants.
