I have recently started receiving a 24.8 MPH wind speed reading when wind was from the South 180 Degrees.I asked LaCrosse Technologies about the issue and they suggested installing Category 5 Data cable in place of the phone cable supplied. Another blog suggested two Ferrite Chokes (Radio Shack 273-104) at the Temp/Wind/Rain transmitter. I installed one and the readings lessened. I installed the second a few inches from the first and the symptoms seems to have en...

Just in time for Hurricane season, my LaCrosse Weather Station is back in it's spot. I did elevate the sensors about 4' and installed it on a pole that can be taken down for maintenance. I have noticed some bird droppings, seeds etc in the rain sensor...so I put a bit of "chicken mesh" wire with the tips cut in such a way as to discourage birds from sitting on the rim of the rain sensor. This is a chore I have been trying to get accomplished since Ike but mounting ...

After no repsonse from LaCrosse in ten days I decided to do some "research" on my wind sensor failure. I noticed that one of the pins on the RJ-11 phone connector was a bit green and pitted. I was surprised as it just returned from LaCrosse for repairs and worked fine for 4 hours.I cut off the old flat wire end and pressed a new one on using a kit I got from Radio Shack. Instantly the wind readings began to show up on my PC. Excellent. I also got some non-condu...

For those who have been keeping up with my High Island Backyard weather station, it has died again. I received it from LaCrosse Technology on Dec. 10 and had it working that evening. Then it snowed on the beach. At 11:38 PM the same night, the wind sensor stopped reporting data and has not returned in spite of new batteries, resetting the sensor and restarting the system several times.I am awaiting a reply to my service request from LaCrosse. Until the fix is co...
