Weather Station Back Up

After lightning took out my serial port on the laptop my weather station once again lives....for now. I am configuring another spare laptop for a backup this week so perhaps I can keep it going a bit longer before getting a new system.It does seem to have a little glitch so it may drift away for a brief minute or so...but it is in the "serial to USB" adaptet I think."I am a very patient person"Oh, and we got over 6" of rain last weekend in High Island.

My Weather Station is back to 100%

Just in time for Hurricane season, my LaCrosse Weather Station is back in it's spot. I did elevate the sensors about 4' and installed it on a pole that can be taken down for maintenance. I have noticed some bird droppings, seeds etc in the rain sensor...so I put a bit of "chicken mesh" wire with the tips cut in such a way as to discourage birds from sitting on the rim of the rain sensor.This is a chore I have been trying to get accomplished since Ike but mounting ...

After no repsonse from LaCrosse in ten days I decided to do some "research" on my wind sensor failure. I noticed that one of the pins on the RJ-11 phone connector was a bit green and pitted. I was surprised as it just returned from LaCrosse for repairs and worked fine for 4 hours.I cut off the old flat wire end and pressed a new one on using a kit I got from Radio Shack. My Weather Station....Dead Again

For those who have been keeping up with my High Island Backyard weather station, it has died again. I received it from LaCrosse Technology on Dec. 10 and had it working that evening. Then it snowed on the beach. At 11:38 PM the same night, the wind sensor stopped reporting data and has not returned in spite of new batteries, resetting the sensor and restarting the system several times.I am awaiting a reply to my service request from LaCrosse.
