As we have all read, temps have started to moderate a bit. Now that our county-wide burn ban has been lifted, I started a campfire tonight. At the same time I got reports of a tornado about 40 miles north. I client of mine prides himself of always being the first farmer in his area to sow his oats. He got them planted this past weekend. After-the-fact, he realized that is probably the first time that he has ever planted in Winter.

Too Warm for March

OK, I'll say it. 80 in March is not good Iowa weather. Record highs, again. Most folks looove the warm temps; it's all I hear all day long. I hate it. We did not have winter. I measured 12" of total snowfall, with the first measureable being on Jan 9th. We skipped from Summer to Fall, and have now skipped Spring back into Summer. Trees Down

Awoke at 6 am. Winds sustained at 60+, with a max of 72. 1.16" rain in 30 inutes. Two mature trees in the front yard are down. The good news is that we'll have plenty of firewood for a long time to come.
