... but what a downer. Power finally went out during a typhoon. Since it passed on the West side of the island (the side I live on AND the power generating station is on) we really got slammed. The eye must have been very close. we had about an hour of relative calm. We could see the sun for awhile from the upper deck. Just a little light breeze and trees swaying gently. Before the calm, it was very much like Bolaven and Sanba. THEN CAME THE BACK SIDE! We ...

I think we just left the center of the storm. For awhile, there was very little wind, but now the wind is coming at us. There is a definite shift in the direction of the waves. Expect that we should see the sea wall being attacked and water coming over the top.

Much more rain than Bolaven or Sanba. But still, this is a new experience. This has been a banner year. 3 typhoons this year (my second year) after my rookie year where there was none. But, who made this rule that 2 of the 3 had to occur on a weekend? I had so much to do this weekend but I'll be lucky to get out to dip my toes in the water.

Maybe I should say the house ROCKS!.The size of the eye of this one is fantastic. The diameter is about 1/2 the length of Okinawa. Unfortunately it is going to cross the northern half of the island. We live on the southern half.Bolaven was listed as Cat 4 when it hit and stuck around for about 8 hours. This one is listed as Cat 3, the winds seem much worse this time. The eye is larger on this one. Probably by at least 50%. Wish I could get all my questions an...
