I'm under fire by a Wind Demon.
I haven't seen a wind like this in Gracy Woods for a long time. Gusts up to 50 mph and blowing in a freakish sort of way. Of course this measures up with the rest of our non-Winter and premature spring. We're just nearing the end of February and already the Arizona Ash tress are fully budded out.

As well the iris' are blooming, the Red tip photenenis have gone red, and impatiens seeds are sprouting like mad. Humans and...

Tonight is the first real hard freeze of the season in Austin. Winter was slow coming but now its here. I've had a chill in my bones all day. The kind no amount of clothing gets rid of. And then on top of it all...The Cedars are having sex.Now I understand. I'm no prude. When you only get to bust one good nut a year might as well make it a big one. But to you have to kill me in the process?I noticed a week ago that the pollen sacks on the Cedar trees were quite full...

Happy New Year everyone! Its 2012 and I'm proud to say the Swift Fox (Vulpes velox) that likes to walk my fence is still alive and doing well.I'm breaking one of my own codes which is unusual for me. I'm feeding the little bugger. I can't help it. I only leave small amounts of meat and bones during the day time when I know she's most active. Its not an everyday thing. Just time to time when I know she's around. In no way do I try to approach her or make her human fri...

When Cardinals attack

Its hard to do anything in my meditation room right now. That same male Cardinal is back. He's beautiful but crazy. All grown up now I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself. I read this article on what's causing him to have this behavior. Its all good information but the little bastard is at every window on the back of the house. He started out attacking the chimney protection grate last week. Now he seems to follow me from room to room all day trying to kill himself ...

Alas Winter shows its face

Sun shining and nature and nature is carrying on business as usual. Weather underground says its 41 degrees but my car and backyard thermometer haven't gone above 33 degrees today. I guess at last Winter has arrived. Most of the tropical s and annuals have begun to fade. late, but the maples though late are putting on brilliant color. We had a slow drenching rain for two days straight. The stress I felt from the woods has abated and the trees are beginning to sleep. ...
