West Virginia... including the following areas... in northwest
North Carolina... Alleghany NC... Ashe and Watauga. In
Virginia... Alleghany VA... Bath... Bland... Botetourt... Carroll...
Craig... Floyd... Giles... Grayson... Montgomery... Pulaski...

* slow moving thunderstorms capable of producing very heavy rain
are possible into this evening. The ground was already
saturated from rainfall during the past few days. Any additional

rates of 2 inches per hour or more are realized.

* Heavy rain may cause streams and creeks to quickly rise out of
their banks. Low water crossings and any poor drainage areas
may also flood due to heavy rain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
