... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1230 am CDT Saturday for
southwestern Lyon... Sioux... Clay... O'Brien... northern Clay...
Lincoln... Yankton... Turner... northern Union and Hutchinson
counties...

At 1113 am CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding across the
warned area. Many rural and County roads as well as a few state
highways remain under water.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Yankton, Spencer in Clay County, Sioux Center, Orange City, Sheldon,
Canton, Hawarden, Beresford, Parker, Harrisburg, Tea, Rock Valley,
Hull, Lennox, Hartley, Sanborn, Freeman, Alton, Paullina and
Primghar.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

the James River above Yankton.
* Until late Wednesday night.
* At 10am Friday the stage was 10.64 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to 15.3 feet by the evening on
Sunday September 23.
* At stages near 16.0 feet... SW jim River Road near 301st street
floods.

The Flood Warning continues for
the James River near Scotland.
* Until Tuesday afternoon.
* At 10am Friday the stage was 14.88 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to 15.7 feet by Saturday September
22.
* At stages near 15.5 feet... 431st Avenue is flooded where it crosses
the river in northwestern Yankton County.
