Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 12:02 PM EST Nov. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
1 PM EST Friday...

* what... heavy snow late this afternoon into this evening, then
mixed precipitation expected late this evening into Friday
morning. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and ice
accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected. Locally
higher accumulations up to 10 inches expected in the Catskills
mountains.

* Where... eastern Catskills, Mid Hudson valley, central and
southern Taconics, southern Berkshires and Litchfield Hills.

* When... from 4 PM this afternoon to 1 PM EST Friday.

* Additional details... travel will be very difficult, especially
during the evening commute today. Wintry conditions will also
affect the morning commute Friday as mixed precipitation changes
back to snow. Isolated power outages are possible. Snowfall
rates of one to two inches per hour will start early this
evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

... Snow will overspread the Mid Hudson valley and Litchfield
County Connecticut between 4 and 6 PM...

Snow will overspread the Mid Hudson valley, southeast Catskills,
and Litchfield County Connecticut, from south to north between 4
and 6 PM.

Snow will increase in intensity shortly after starting, with areas
of moderate to heavy snow possible toward and especially after 6
PM. Accumulations of up to an inch will be possible by 6 PM,
especially close to the Interstate 84 corridor and southern
Litchfield County.

Expect travel conditions to rapidly deteriorate from south to
north between 4 and 6 PM across these areas.
