Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 2:45 PM EST Nov. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 10 am EST Friday...

* what... heavy mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations of 5
to 8 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an
inch are expected.

* Where... Delaware and Sullivan counties.

* When... snow overspreads the region this afternoon and quickly
becomes heavy at times, with snowfall rates of around an inch
per hour anticipated. Snow will change over to a period of sleet
and freezing later this evening in portions of Sullivan County.
Precipitation changes back to all snow early Friday, before
tapering off by late morning.

* Additional details... travel could be very difficult. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening
commute.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

making for a potentially dangerous evening rush...

Snow will start rapidly across most of the region from south to
north this afternoon. Once the snow starts it will accumulate and
freeze quickly on Road surfaces. Road conditions are reported to
be very hazardous where the snow has already started. The snow has
already started in northeast Pennsylvania and will start shortly
in the southern tier. Snow will develop across Finger Lakes
eastward to the southern Catskills by 4 PM and in the Rome and
Syracuse areas by 5 PM. Very hazardous Road conditions expected
through the evening rush hour. Drive cautiously and only if you
have to through the duration of the storm.
