Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:24 AM EDT Aug. 14, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central New York including the Mohawk Valley,
Schoharie valley and eastern Catskills.

* Through this evening

* showers and scattered thunderstorms will contain heavy rain
today into this evening. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches
with locally higher amounts are expected. This amount of
rainfall in a relatively short amount of time will have the
potential to cause rapid flooding along streams and creeks, in
urban areas, and in other low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* Main Stem river flooding will also be possible in the Schoharie
Creek basin due to already high water levels from recent
rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
