Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central New York including the following areas,
northern Warren, Herkimer and Hamilton counties.

* Through Thursday morning.

* Anomalously warm temperatures will continue to allow for
considerable snow melt in the southern Adirondacks tonight into
Wednesday night. One to three inches of snow melt is expected.
Around a quarter of an inch of additional rainfall is possible
through Wednesday. Ice jam flooding is also possible in the
watch area.

* Significant rises are expected on rivers, streams and creeks
including the Sacandaga, upper Hudson, western Mohawk and
Schroon rivers. The potential for flooding will increase in
the warm air mass with the flood threat continuing into
Thursday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
