Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 10:33 AM MDT Oct. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Strong northwest winds and dry conditions to continue this
afternoon and early evening...

Frequent wind gusts in excess of 40 mph will continue this
afternoon and early evening across western and north central
Nebraska. The gusty winds will combine with an increasingly dry
airmass to promote large range fire spread this afternoon.

Hazardous driving conditions due to the strong wind will be
possible this afternoon for those driving lightweight or high
profile vehicles. Additionally, those working outdoors should
exercise caution to not start a range fire. Under these
conditions, any range fire start will be difficult and dangerous
to control.
