runoff are still ongoing, and may lead to continued flooding and
high water concerns through this evening.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pikeville, Whitesburg, Harlan, Hindman, Letcher, Bath, Cumberland,
Jenkins, Coal Run Village, Loyall, Elkhorn City and Evarts.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route. Turn around. Don't drown.

The Flood Watch continues

* through Thursday morning

* rainfall through 7 am on Thursday is expected to average in the
0.75 to 1.25 inch range across the area. Locally higher amounts
are possible.

* Excessive runoff could lead to flooding of poor drainage areas
as well as creeks and streams, especially in adjacent low
lying areas. Significant rises will also occur along larger
rivers, with some some points along the red, main Stem of the
Kentucky, and Cumberland River basins possibly exceeding flood
stage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
