Flood Warning
Issued: 1:28 PM EST Feb. 17, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Maysville
* from Sunday evening until further notice.
* At 12 PM the stage was 45.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 50 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise above flood stage Sunday late evening and
continue to rise to near 53.1 feet by Tuesday evening.The river will
then begin falling, but remain above flood stage for the next 5 days.
* At stages near 53.5 feet, flooding occurs in low areas of Ripley and
Aberdeen, Ohio. Areas within the flood plain are increasingly
inundated. Backwater and lowland flooding can be expected along the
river. The city of Maysville itself is protected to a stage just
above 79 feet.

... Flooding now expected to continue until Wednesday afternoon...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Portsmouth
* from Sunday morning to Wednesday afternoon.
* At 1 PM the stage was 47.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 50 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise above flood stage late Sunday morning and
continue to rise to near 52.7 feet by early Tuesday morning.The river
will fall below flood stage late Wednesday morning.
* At stages near 53.0 feet, water enters lower levels of homes in South
Portsmouth. Backwater flooding from the Ohio River worsens onto area
creeks, especially along the Ohio Side of the river through Scioto and
Adams counties. Flooding continues through stretches of Route 52.
Much of Portsmouth itself is protected by flood walls.

Periods of wet snow can be expected across the region this
afternoon. Snow accumulations will generally be 1 to 2 inches
with isolated higher amounts. The snow may mix with rain by late
afternoon as temperatures slowly warm into the mid 30s.

Motorists can expect reduced visibilities along with some slick
spots on roadways. Use caution if traveling this afternoon.
