The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay area - Ruskin FL has
issued a lake Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 1 PM this
afternoon to 8 PM EDT this evening.

* Timing... from 1 PM to 8 PM.

* Winds... southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with higher gusts.

* Impacts... hazardous conditions on area lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

At 530 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 13 miles west of
North Port, moving east at 35 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this

Locations impacted include...
North Port, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Charlotte County Airport,
Murdock, Gulf Cove, South Venice, El Jobean, Harbour Heights,
Charlotte Park, Cleveland, Grove City, Warm Mineral Springs, lake
suzy, Solana, Nokomis, Venice Gardens, Charlotte Harbor, Fort Ogden
and Rotonda.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
