High Wind Warning
Issued: 10:38 PM MST Feb. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until noon MST Monday...

* location... the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Wet Mountains
and Wet Mountain Valley, Pikes Peak above 11000 feet and
Huerfano County along and west of Interstate 25.

* Cause and timing... a strong jet stream will move across the
area bringing periods of strong damaging downslope winds
through Monday morning.

* Wind... west to southwest winds over the mountains 30 to 50 mph
with gusts up to around 85 mph, while lower elevation areas see
west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.

* Impact... strong winds will cause hazardous driving conditions
along portions of the Interstate 25 corridor. Minor property
damage will also be possible especially again tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
