* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Gila County area of Young in east central Arizona...

* until 700 PM MST

* at 614 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southwest
of Young, or 21 miles southeast of Payson, moving southwest at 10

Hazard... 70 mph wind gusts and ping pong Ball size hail.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... people and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
           damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
           considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
           Mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
Reynolds creek group campground and Rose Creek campground.

This includes the following highways...
State Route 288 between mile markers 274 and 306.
State Route 188 between mile markers 267 and 269.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Gila County Young area in east central Arizona... Navajo County
west of Cibecue in north central Arizona...

* until 900 PM MST

* at 602 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Haigler creek, Young, alderwood campground, Airplane Flat
campground, Canyon Creek Fish Hatchery and Haigler Canyon

This includes the following streams and drainages... Salt Creek... Bear
Creek... Spring Creek... Canyon creek... Chevelon Canyon and Oak Creek.

This includes State Route 288 between mile markers 296 and 311.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

... Significant weather advisory for Gila County until 730 PM MST...

At 641 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 18
miles southeast of Young, or 22 miles northeast of Roosevelt, moving
south at 15 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of Gila County.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
