Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 7:36 AM CST Feb. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Elk River near Prospect
* until Monday morning.
* At 6 am Friday the stage was 26.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* At 26.0 feet... water completely floods Veto Rd near the Hargrove - Johnson
bridge south of Route 273. It may be unsafe to pass and motorists should seek
an alternate Route.
* At 25.0 feet... water begins to flood Veto Rd near the Hargrove - Johnson
bridge south of Route 273.
* At 24.5 feet... water begins to approach Veto Rd near the Hargrove - Johnson
bridge.
* At 22.0 feet... water completely inundates the twra boat launch parking lot
near the Hargrove - Johnson bridge on Veto Rd.
* At 19.0 feet... water begins to inundate the twra boat launch parking area near
the Hargrove - Johnson bridge on Veto Rd. The boat ramp is completely
submerged at this level and may be unusable.
* At 18.0 feet... water begins to inundate the low lying agricultural land along
the river.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
eastern Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama...
Limestone County in north central Alabama...
northern Lawrence County in northwestern Alabama...

* until 1215 PM CST Friday.

* At 611 am CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. Emergency managers
reported Mooresville Road near old Highway 20 was closed due to
water over the Road. The heavy rain will continue to cause
flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Decatur, Madison, Athens, Rogersville, Ardmore, Town Creek,
Lexington, Courtland, Tanner and harvest.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the
warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through early Saturday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Alabama and southern middle Tennessee, including
the following areas, in Alabama, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb,
Franklin al, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone,
Madison, Marshall, and Morgan. In southern middle Tennessee,
Franklin TN, Lincoln, and Moore.

* Through early Saturday

* periods of showers and a few thunderstorms are expected late
tonight through early Saturday morning. This will result in
excessive rain and a high risk of flash flooding. Total rainfall
amounts of 2 to 3 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts
of 3 to 5 inches.

* Residents should make preparations now if they live in a flood
prone area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should continue to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take
