* what... strong winds, heavy snow, blowing snow, freezing rain and
blizzard conditions are expected. Snow will mix with rain
through tonight. Plan on difficult to travel conditions. Total
snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected. Ice
accumulation will be a trace.
* Where... St Lawrence Island and Bering Strait coast.
* When... until 10 PM Thursday. In the Bering Strait, blizzard
conditions will continue through Thursday night, with conditions
improving briefly tonight as snow mixes with rain. At St
Lawrence Island, rain is now occuring, but will change back to
snow early Thursday with blizzard conditions returning then.
* Additional details... south winds gusting to 70 mph. Blowing and
drifting snow will occur along with whiteout conditions.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice are occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Strong winds are also possible.
