The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a
* Flood Warning for...
heavy rainfall... around taiya river in the northern Inner
* until 400 PM akdt Wednesday.
* At 628 PM akdt, river gauge reports indicate large water level
rises from heavy rain over the warning area that is causing
impacts. Rivers and streams will continue to rise rapidly. An
estimated 1 to 2 inches of rain have fallen in the last 9 hours at
higher elevation. Additional rainfall of 1 inch is expected over
the area through 8 hours.
* For the taiya river:
at 628 PM akdt the stage was 16.5 feet.
Flood stage is 16.5 feet.
Forecast: crest of 17.5 feet at 4 am Wednesday morning.
Impacts: at 17.5 feet the National Park service may close the
chilkoot trail due to flooding impacts associated with high water
in the surrounding watershed.
